Quick cooking notes

  • Follow all 7 steps in order for the intended texture and doneness.
  • Ingredient quantities listed below are for 8 servings.

Ingredients

  • 900 g 85% lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 tbsp dried onion flakes
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp beef bouillon granules
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 cup barbecue sauce
  • 8 slices american cheese
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 8 buns hamburger buns (split)
  • 8 leaves lettuce leaves
  • 2 medium tomatoes (sliced)
  • 24 slices pickle slices

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the dry milk powder, dried onion flakes, dried parsley, garlic powder, beef bouillon granules, and black pepper to make the homemade burger seasoning.
  2. Place the ground beef in a large bowl and add the Worcestershire sauce and 1/4 cup of the seasoning mixture. Mix gently just until combined so the meat stays tender.
  3. Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into patties about 1/2 inch thick. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  4. Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  5. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush the patties with barbecue sauce and top each one with a slice of American cheese so it can melt.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly, if desired.
  7. Assemble each burger by layering lettuce, tomato slices, pickle slices, a cheeseburger patty, and a slice of cooked bacon on the bun. Serve immediately.
