Canadian Moose Milk Cocktail

Canadian Moose Milk Cocktail

This creamy canadian party cocktail blends vanilla ice cream, whole milk, dark rum, and coffee liqueur into a frosty dessert drink. A light grating of nutmeg gives each glass a classic holiday finish.

Prep: 10 min · Total: 10 min · Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup coffee liqueur
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg (plus more for garnish)
  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream (slightly softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whole milk (well chilled)
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Chill six 8-ounce glasses in the freezer for at least 10 minutes while you measure the ingredients, so the finished cocktail stays frosty when served.
  2. Place 4 cups slightly softened vanilla ice cream in a large blender jar, using a rubber spatula to keep the mixture below the maximum fill line.
  3. Pour 2 cups well-chilled whole milk into the blender, then add 1 cup dark rum, 0.5 cup coffee liqueur, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg.
  4. Add 1 cup ice cubes to the blender, secure the lid tightly, and hold the lid down with a folded kitchen towel to prevent splashing.
  5. Blend on low speed for 15 seconds to break up the ice, then increase to high speed and blend for 30-45 seconds, until the cocktail is smooth, thick, and pourable with no large ice pieces visible.
  6. Stop the blender and check the texture with a long spoon; if the mixture is too thick to pour, blend in additional chilled milk 1 tbsp at a time for 5 seconds after each addition until it flows smoothly.
  7. Taste a small spoonful and adjust only if needed, blending in an extra pinch of ground nutmeg for 5 seconds if you want a warmer spice note.
  8. Pour the Moose Milk evenly into the six chilled glasses, filling each glass about three-quarters full to leave room for the frothy top.
  9. Garnish each glass with a light pinch of additional ground nutmeg and serve immediately while cold and creamy.
