Frozen Strawberry Banana Smoothie

This creamy frozen strawberry smoothie blends ripe banana, greek yogurt, milk, and a splash of orange juice for a bright, refreshing drink. Honey and vanilla round out the berries without making the smoothie overly sweet.
Prep: 10 min · Total: 10 min · Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp honey
- 0.125 tsp fine sea salt
- 4 cups frozen strawberries (unsweetened)
- 0.5 cup orange juice (chilled)
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt (nonfat)
- 2 medium ripe bananas (peeled and sliced)
- 1.5 cups whole milk (chilled)
Instructions
- Place four serving glasses in the freezer for 5 minutes while you prepare the smoothie ingredients; the glasses should feel cold to the touch when ready.
- Set a high-speed blender on a stable counter with the motor off, then add 1.5 cups chilled whole milk and 0.5 cup chilled orange juice to the blender jar first so the blades can move freely.
- Add 1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 0.125 tsp fine sea salt to the blender jar, keeping the thicker ingredients near the liquid for easier blending.
- Add 2 medium peeled and sliced ripe bananas to the blender jar, spreading the slices in an even layer over the yogurt mixture.
- Add 4 cups unsweetened frozen strawberries last, breaking apart any large frozen clumps with clean hands before placing them in the blender jar.
- Secure the blender lid tightly, start the blender on low speed for 15 seconds, and watch for the liquid to begin pulling the fruit down toward the blades.
- Increase the blender to high speed and blend for 45 to 60 seconds, stopping when the mixture looks uniformly pink, thick, and free of visible strawberry or banana pieces.
- Turn the blender off and scrape down the sides with a silicone spatula if any fruit remains above the blades, then blend on high speed for another 15 to 20 seconds until the smoothie pours slowly but smoothly.
- Check the texture with a spoon; if the smoothie is too thick to pour, add cold water or milk 1 tbsp at a time and blend on medium speed for 5 seconds after each addition until it reaches your preferred consistency.
- Pour the smoothie immediately into the chilled glasses and serve while frosty, with a thick, creamy texture and no icy chunks.
