Quick cooking notes

  • Core ingredients include carrot, beef broth, onion, ground beef.
  • Follow all 9 steps in order for the intended texture and doneness.
  • Ingredient quantities listed below are for 6 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium carrot (diced)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg (beaten)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  4. Stir in the diced carrot, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme, then simmer for about 15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and line a pie dish with it, allowing the excess to hang over the edges.
  6. Pour the meat filling into the pastry-lined dish and cover with the second sheet of puff pastry, sealing the edges by crimping them together.
  7. Cut a few slits in the top pastry to allow steam to escape, then brush the surface with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  9. Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
